On July 10, 2000, the Senate amended and passed by voice vote S. 311, a bill

to authorize the construction of a memorial honoring disabled military

veterans (to be located on federal property in Washington, D.C.).

 According to provisions in the bill, the Disabled Veterans LIFE Memorial

Foundation will be responsible for raising funds privately to build and

maintain the

memorial.  (The House approved a similar bill, H.R. 1509, on May 3, 2000.)

S. 311 must now go to the House for consideration.
